”Birth of ICP: Treasures Box 1966~1969”という謎のCD4枚組を購入。

ドルフィーのLast Dateはボクのなかで究極の1枚(勿論ジャズ部門で)、なのだけど、ある時期から、ドルフィーの背後のベニンク、メンゲルベルクの(秘めたる)変態性が強烈なスパイスになっているように感じるようになった。勿論、ドルフィーの圧倒される演奏の背後なので、ささやかなのだけど。モンク由来の音、というか、そんな印象で。

だから彼らのimprovised musicは、その脱構築的な取り組みに面白味があるのではなく、離れた場所から見るジャズへの眼差しが面白い、と思っている。

そんな意味で1964年のドルフィーとのセッションからの彼らの動き、ジャズという太陽系のなかで、次第に軌道が外れていく様子、に興味を持っていた。

先日、Birth of ICP: Treasures Box 1966~1969というCD4枚組を入手したのは、そんな気持ちがあったから。ボクにとって謎の宝箱。今、聴きはじめているが実に面白い。伝統的なジャズからの遠心力と求心力のせめぎ合い、の記録なのだ。半世紀前のこと。実際にICPオーケストラを聴いて、あの脱力感とビートに痺れてからも35年くらい経っている。メンゲルベルクも鬼籍に入った。

 これから、このCD4枚を聴くのだけど、全くインターネット上に情報はない。bootだ。多分、ラジオ音源や既発のレコードを摘まみ食いものだとは思うが、ボクにとっては丁度のアンソロジー。ICPの公式BOXが欲しくなってきた。困った!
